What is The Formation?

  • Would you like to expand your listening capacity—listening to God, peers, family or neighbors?
  • Are you looking for thinking partners to explore ancient and emerging theology, our world and new ideas?
  • Do you need real skills for meaningful ministry?
  • Are you looking for new ways to think about your faith?

Then THE FORMATION is for you. Formation experiences are for leaders of all ages that want to grow deeper in our Christian heritage and wider through service in the name of Jesus. Participate in Learn+LEAD events to energize your thinking or to intentionally shape a plan that will equip you for meaningful leadership development.

Loving God with all our mind calls us to use our intelligence and imagination to study, to question, and to critically reflect as we listen to others and attend to our relationship with God. Think about forming leaders who make a personal commitment to grow! Then think about people committing to one-day local Learn+LEAD events or taking the Latino Lay Leadership Formation Tracks in their own congregation. In addition, think about a movement of faithful women who are trained theologically and networked to serve God in the world.

Sustainable growth doesn’t just happen. It takes intentionality, commitment of resources and personal investment. Leadership is influence so there is a responsibility to constantly be learning, to always be asking good questions and to seek out trusted thinking partners. The Formation is a community of learners who are ready to grow deep roots in our ancient traditions and branch out to new ways of being church.

The Formation is for Pastors, AiMs and other professional leaders, congregational leaders and student leaders.

It is important that you not see The Formation as a one-stop learning event, workshop, seminar or class. The Formation is part of a plan for lifelong learning that is rooted deeply in our faith with the expectation of bearing fruit. Entering into learning experiences that fit your personal and corporate goals for loving God and loving your neighbor is the key.

The Formation is giving shape to our lives. As we grow and form as leaders, we influence the people around us.

The Formation means:

  • Making a plan to grow
  • Having shared learning experiences with networked resources
  • Making small bets and doing courageous experiments
  • Practicing relentless evaluation
