Experience Sacred Time
to Welcome the Seasons
Join Sacred Time, an online international movement of people who follow Jesus, or are curious about Jesus, reclaiming Advent as a Sacred Time for Biblical reflection, conversation, and prayer.
The commitment is to meet for one hour each week for four weeks, four hours total. This is time set aside to pray and reflect together in community.
Sacred Time will focus on hope, peace, love, and joy through selected scripture readings and guided questions. Everything is ready to go, easy to do, and beautifully designed allowing space to bring deeper meaning to the season. And to breathe.
Choose the day and time that work best for you.
Keep the movement going by hosting your own Sacred Time conversations with your household, work place, or on Zoom. When you join a group, you will receive resources to guide scripture reflection with thoughtful questions, symbols, and meaning as you come together to find hope, peace, love, and joy in the season.

True encounter with Christ liberates something in us, a power we did not know we had, a hope, a capacity for life, a resilience, an ability to bounce back when we thought we were completely defeated, a capacity to grow and change, a power of creative transformation.

About Welcome the Seasons
Welcome the Seasons is a devotional response to our deep longing to experience more of the beauty of this time of year. It provides a way to experience each day of the Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany seasons at a pace that breathes life back into us.
Welcome the Seasons features over 40 daily devotional writings, beginning on the first Sunday in Advent and running through Epiphany Day. In addition, scripture readings, original artwork from Prince of Peace artists and photographers, small group discussion questions, and prayers specific to each day will stir your imagination and deepen your faith.
Your registration for Sacred Time includes the daily Welcome the Seasons devotion sent to you as an email from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN.
Welcome the Seasons is a devotional resource to help guide you through the days of Advent and Christmas leading up to Epiphany Day, January 6. Each day’s devotion includes five parts.
As you make your way through each day’s readings, know that you are not alone. We are in this together,
and God – Immanuel – is with us.
Each day begins with an image, a painting, a photograph. Take a few moments to look at the entire picture. Be aware of the colors and shapes; notice the lighting and shadows. Become aware of the foreground detail as well as the background. This is known as Visio Divina, or “sacred seeing,” an ancient form of prayer that continues to be a powerful method of meditation. Once you have taken in the artwork, note what has captured your attention. This is one of the ways the Holy Spirit speaks to us.
Each day is grounded in a scripture passage. You will find that passage printed for you. You may, however, wish to use your own Bible, or a digital app, reading the passage in several different translations. As with the image, it is important not to rush. Instead, let the words speak to you. Be curious. Ask yourself what is familiar and what is not? What do you see for the first time?
Each day includes a series of questions to draw you deeper into the theme, the biblical text, and the devotion. You may wish to be in conversation with others, with a small group, friends, or family members. The questions are provided to spark your learning and awareness of God’s presence.
Finally, the daily devotion concludes with a prayer. Pray the prayers; let the words of the prayers become your prayers. Take each day’s prayer with you, perhaps rewriting it and putting it where you often look so that the daily prayer supports and sustains you through each day.
The daily devotion – the story that follows – is intended to guide you into thinking about God’s activity among us as we move deeper and deeper into these seasons.
