ADVENT RESOURCES 2015

This year, Lord, come close and capture our attention,
create in us a vivid image of the crazy idea
that God is born to the poorest of poor.
Create in us the desire to pass our blessings forward.
Remind us that tonight you actually do come to us.

LEAD is grateful to all the congregations and individuals across the country who shared photos of their creative work using LEAD’s Advent Resources.

Resources from previous years are also available:

About the liturgies

Four contemplative prayer liturgies and accompanying coloring pages for use during Advent.  “Like” the LEAD Facebook page to receive occasional posts with photos, artwork, prayers, and reflections. Each of the 2-page liturgies, written by Lynn Willis, include:

  • Invocation
  • Confession
  • Scripture Readings
  • Prayer
  • Time of Silence*
  • Blessing

For use by individuals, congregations or small groups during Advent, each is illustrated with original art by Vonda Drees. The images are available in a variety of styles allowing you to customize them for your personal use or for your congregation. The four weekly cover designs can be combined into a single collage as shown at the bottom of this page.

*Explore coloring as a spiritual practice.

Catherine Anderson First Lutheran in Duluth, MN

Every Sunday our youth director put out a panel for members to draw on during coffee hour. The stories of welcoming, belonging and story sharing – among all ages – were amazing. Thank you for sharing this gift! I know of at least 3 churches in our synod who used these resources this advent.

Lara Martin

We are using this in place of our usual midweek Bible Study during Advent. A time of stillness, prayer and silence.

Val Metropoulos Amazing Grace in Aberdeen, WA

Amazing Grace Lutheran in Aberdeen, WA is using your artwork and theme during Advent. They have been great inspiration for our narrative lectionary readings.

Carolyn Hellerich

We are giving these out for personal and family devotions during Advent.
