We live in a time of unprecedented opportunity for innovation.
THE LEAD Studio invites faithful leaders into a sacred space
to exercise their wisdom and collaborate with others.

The Problem:

Christian leaders are still being formed in ways that worked in a previous time in history. We observe leadership formation practiced at outdoor ministries, universities, and seminaries, and influenced by the military and the marketplace. But what about the church?

  • Christian leaders are not equipped with the skills necessary to lead for such a time as this.
  • Christian leaders have significant theological education but are not provided with leadership formation that is adaptive, creative, and entrepreneurial.
  • Christian leaders are not engaging in deep, formative spiritual practices that undergird their leadership and impact their communities of service.

The world in which we live today demands more of Christian leaders. Research proves that new and longtime leaders in the church find themselves unequipped for the current climate with its major shifts in relational systems including social media, social justice, and leadership ethics. There is clarity on what needs to happen. There is a pervasive lack of confidence in leaders on how to get things done. The gap between the church and our changing world is growing. The LEAD Studio wants to close these gaps.

The Studio Space:

Safe space to wonder, question, ponder, and move towards experimentation. The LEAD Studio is an iterative process that is attentive to the movement of the Holy Spirit in this space. We invite you to be flexible and to release the need to manage an agenda.

The Details:

Who?

Space is limited to 50 people. We have invited those we know to be innovative thinkers. We are especially focused on younger leaders and leaders in the first ten years of ministry while seeking ethnic, cultural, economic, sexual orientation, and gender diversity to strengthen our conversations.

What?

This is the first LEAD Studio, though we imagine this is only the beginning. Our focus for this conversation will target the gifts, call, and needs of leaders in their first ten years of ministry.

Outcomes?

Our measurable outcomes will be determined by the process though we anticipate SOMETHING that will be worth testing over time. This experience is more than talk. We have a bias towards action and expect to produce next steps worth experimenting with.

When?

The LEAD Studio begins with the Sacred Meal at 6:30 PM on Sunday evening, April 23, and ends with a sending liturgy during lunch on April 25. We gather as disciples to eat, dream, play, pray, wonder, and invent together.

Cost?

$200 for leaders in their first ten years of ministry or serving communities of poverty. $300 for all others. This includes double occupancy housing, 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts, and 2 lunches. Travel costs are not included.
